Women

First Reformed Church Women’s Bible Study/Ministry exists to GROW women spiritually and relationally with the triune God, CONNECT women, in different ages and stages, within the church and the community, provide an opportunity to SERVE the body of Christ within our church or community and be willing to GO locally and globally when the LORD calls. Doing all of this so that we may grow together in the faith, knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.

The purpose of the Women's Bible study is to grow in intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through daily study and application of the Scriptures, prayer, and building relationships through multigenerational small groups as given example in Titus 2: 3-4.

Likewise teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
If you loved the Sermon on the Mount, then you are going to enjoy this Bible study option. No charge, no book, no shipping and yes, it is essential! That is why we are bringing it to your home. Jen Wilkin created 5 days with video clips (9-15 minutes long), describing how to study through the book of James. A Bible and a notebook are all you need to get started as you study the Bible for yourself. The first week is on James 1:1-12.
After that, you are on your own using the tools you have learned from the video clips and the Holy Spirit to bring to light each passage. Perhaps you want to phone a gal in your group or a friend to do this study with you! Teaching audios are available on most podcast apps from Jen Wilkin on the Book of James, where you can also access the 91-page James study(button for this is below) she did at her home church in Flower Mound, Texas.
We want to read, understand and apply the Bible because we know that reading the Bible will bring hope, peace, and perspective in this time. We can read much in the news and social media, but God has much to say, dear ladies, let us read the Bible to fill our minds and hearts.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”.
2 Timothy 3:16-17.

How to Study the Bible with Jen Wilkin

Study with Purpose, Perspective, and Patience
Every good endeavor should be done with purpose. Without a clear sense of purpose, our efforts to do a good thing well can flounder. But with a clear purpose, we are far more likely to persevere. This is certainly true of building Bible literacy—it takes effort to build, but maintaining a clear sense of purpose sustains us in our labor. How can we begin to be more purposeful in the way we approach Bible study? It might seem terribly obvious to say that we should study the Bible with purpose... (Read whole article)
  • Choose a book that’s short and application-driven.
  • Get a copy of the text that you can mark up (either print it off or get a notebook).
  • Read through the entire book from start to finish (at least once).
  • Answer these five basic questions: Who wrote this?, To whom was it written?, When was it written?, In what style was it written?, What is the main theme of the book? (Note: You can use a commentator’s notes (or the ESV Study Bible book introduction information) to help shape what the book is saying and take notes that you’ll refer back to.
  • Stop and look up words in the dictionary as needed.
  • Be patient. Read and reread the text, looking for new things.
